Other information: Tomkeen obtained his LLB degree from Kenyatta University in 2014, but after spending four years working as a lawyer at the headquarter of the United Nations Environment Programme, he decided to broaden his horizons and continue his academic studies. Being awarded the Hodgson Law Scholarship after admission to the LLM programme at the University of Liverpool was as a great privilege to him. The scholarship has allowed him to study abroad at a prestigious university – something he had always dreamed of. .
Studying at the University of Liverpool will not only deepen his knowledge on legal issues but also strengthen his personal and professional network and improve his international experience. After completion of the LLM, Tomkeen plans to pursue a PhD in International Law. Moreover, he will soon be called to the Bar in Kenya after having completed his Bar Examination at the Kenya School of Law in 2017 and he hopes to use this nomination, along with his other educational attainments, to benefit his home country, especially his rural home, Kisii, in the South-West of Kenya.
